Senior Associate (Transaction Advisory Services)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in client meetings and site visits while interacting with top-level management to obtain pertinent information for financial analysis
  • Intakes information from various sources and keeps information organized, accessible, and properly cataloged for use by team members
  • Preparation of work papers, analyzes, and client deliverables
  • Interacts with other functional areas of company, other external advisors, regulators, and various other professionals
  • Contributes to industry, technical accounting, and tax research and analysis
  • Interacts with highly confidential and sensitive information
  • Assists with preparing proposals, engagement letters, and statements of work
  • Analyze and synthesize data to identify historical and projected financial and operating trends, quality of earnings and working capital considerations, and considers various other data points that may impact an engagement

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of three years’ experience in one of the following with a Top Ten public accounting firm: accounting, advisory, financial audit, or transaction experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college/university or CPA eligible; licensed CPA/equivalent certification is preferred
  • Strong current knowledge in one of the following: United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Securities and Exchange Commission financial reporting issues, International Financial Reporting Standards , mergers and acquisitions, or transaction services
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Willingness and ability to travel
  • A self-starter who is confident when interacting with clients, internal team members, and firm leadership
  • Applies critical thinking and problem-solving skills on a daily basis
  • Is passionate about strategic business activities and analyzing financial information
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future
  • 3 years of busy season experience and completed a handful of audits, meaning they had to clean up an audit file and had to be part of filing it.  That should put us with a senior with 3+years of experience or a young manager
  • Be eligible for the CPA and preferably a CPA along with baseline knowledge of accounting, tax, business law, and overall business process knowledge
  • Experience with control reliant audits and have experience completing process narratives, walk-throughs, and internal control testing (tracing and vouching transactional data in Accounting Information Systems).
  • Experience working with clients obtaining information for analysis and ticking and tying operational reports to financial statements. (Performed inventory counts, tie AR aging to GL, tie AP aging to GL, etc.)
  • A firm understanding of management assertions and how they relate to financial statements
  • Strong understanding of working capital and how working capital flows from the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
  • Strong Microsoft Excel knowledge is required with a working knowledge of CAAT solutions like ACL and IDEA preferred
